MEET STEVE

NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

Steve is a lifelong resident of Morrill County. He has spent the majority of his adult life serving his community on private business and public boards both local and national.

 

He learned firsthand about hard work and responsibility growing up on the farm. He began his farming career on his own in 1972.

 

His public service started in 1981 on a Class 1 school board.  He continued his service to the public in the education sector when he was elected to the Bayard board of education in 1994 and continued in that role until 2005 when is was elected Morrill County Commissioner, which he is currently serving. He was elected to the executive committee of the Nebraska Association of County Officials (NACO) in 2009 and served as Chairman in 2011. Other organizations that served are the Scotts Bluff-Morrill County Extension board, Morrill County Fair Board, and the Bayard FFA Alumni board.

Steve also has served on several local, state and national business related boards.He was elected to the Panhandle Coop Board with branches in western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming in 1982, and is currently in has 33rd year on this board.

He was elected to the Farmland industries Board in Kansas City in 1992, serving Finance Committee, Audit, Corporate Responsibility and Compensation Committees. He also severed as member representative Nebraska Coop Council Executive Board.  He was a Charter member of the Board that founded Stateline Bean Coop - owned by the members for the purpose of processing and marketing members dry edible beans.

 

With his involvement in these public and private endeavors he still found time to volunteer to help with 4-H and FFA projects and programs that his 3 Sons where involved in. He was sheep superintendent for 25years and help sponsor many FFA trips to Nebraska and National FFA conventions.

 

Steve is committed to serving the people of the 47th District with fairness, openness.  He will be approachable and strive to provide the kind of representation you deserve – based on traditional values of common sense and that the fabric that holds and strengthens our communities is faith and family.

 

Steve has been married to Cathy for 44 years and have three married sons and nine grandchildren.
